City holding pumpkin crafting contest

The City of Greer is hosting a Pumpkin Crafting Contest in October.

Individuals may carve or paint pumpkins at home, then drop off their creations at the City of Greer Centr for the Arts Oct. 12-14.

The pumpkins will be displayed to the public on Tuesdays, Oct. 20 and 27, 6-8:30 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 24, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Public can address new DOT projects

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is providing a public comment period for proposed additions to SCDOT’s 2020-2021 pavement improvement program.

Proposed projects were approved by the Commission pending substantive comments during the 21-day public comment period from September 22 through October 13.

Road closure

Downtown commuters will need to find a new route over the next two weeks.

Cannon Street (between the Cannon Centre and Jason Street) is closed to through traffic as Sossamon Construction and Greer CPW work on storm drain and sewer lines.

The recreation department is partnering with  Ollie’s Tavern to offer an adult Bocce Ball League on Tuesday nights starting Sept.15.
