Furman to host NFL’S Wade Davis at breakfast
Former NFL player, equality advocate and educator Wade Davis will speak Friday, Jan. 18, during a Community Breakfast celebrating the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The breakfast begins at 8 a.m., with the program following at 8:30 a.m. in the Melvin and Dollie Younts Conference Center on the Furman University campus.

Reindeer games
Tigerville Elementary students participated in ‘reindeer games’ during the school’s annual Holiday Bash. Tigerville had a record turnout for the event that allowed students, parents and teachers to make ornaments, enjoy drama and chorus performances, participate in reindeer games and visit with Rudolph and Frosty.
Miss NGU gives back by helping children in need
Miss NGU 2018 Hannah Pearson has been volunteering with Upstate Backpack Blessings, a charitable organization that provides food items for underprivileged area students. Pearson, crowned in January, has been familiar with the organization from a young age.

Ice on Main is offering K-12 students the opportunity to skate for free, courtesy of the Duke Energy Foundation.
The first 50 students to show a report card with a B or higher in math or science on Wednesdays can skate for free.
