Buena Vista promotes peace

A couple of Buena Vista Elementary School (BVES) art teachers have undertaken projects to promote peace this school year.

After new Principal David Burgess shared an idea to put a Peace Pole at the school, art teachers Wendy Jackson and JoAnn Wellbrock brainstormed how they could participate.

Gambrell crowned Miss Byrnes

Leighanna Gambrell was crowned Miss Byrnes High 2018 during Saturday night’s pageant. The 54th annual pageant was presented by the Rebel Band Booster Club, Inc.

She danced to a medley of “I Love Rock & Roll / We Will Rock You” and was winner of the interview portion of the contest.
