Springwell Church will be hosting its annual Candy Dash on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 6-7:30 p.m. The fourth annual event will actually look more like the original this year with families lining up to go through a candy trail rather than the drive-thru experience during the pandemic.

About 30 members of the South Carolina State Guard participated in training over the weekend designed to better prepare them in responses to emergencies around the state.

Greer’s Alison Rauch will be participating in the Trailblaze Challenge hike to support Make-A-Wish on Nov. 6, raising money for Make-a-Wish.

The 28.3-mile hike will take place along the Foothills Trail in Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina.

For Kamryn Mathis, competing in the pageant system has been a win-win.

The Blue Ridge Middle 6th grader gets to give of herself through various service projects while receiving the gifts of confidence and friendship.

Contestants throughout the Palmetto State will compete for the titles of Miss South Carolina Volunteer and the Miss South Carolina Teen Volunteer from October 22-23 at Twichell Auditorium on the campus of Converse University.
