Duncan police are conducting an investigation after two people were found dead Wednesday night.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger identified the deceased as Douglas Evan Pearson, 47, of 109 Wilburn Ave., Duncan, and Crystal Denise McAbee, of the Tyger River area.

Police Chief Carl Long said the department took a 911 call at 8:53 p.m. informing them of an incident at the Wilburn Ave. address with weapons involved. Long said when they arrived they found two people, both deceased. They did not find any weapons.

Long said they are trying to determine who called in the incident and why they said weapons were involved.

“We don’t know why it was called in with weapons like that other than if somebody saw the bodies and thought (weapons were used),” he said.

SLED was called to help process the scene, and the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office was called to handle the autopsies, which will be conducted later today.

Clevenger reported that on initial exam “there is no apparent cause of death for either decedent,” meaning that “there were no outer markings that suggest [the pair] came to their fate by foul play.”

The department will issue a report when the findings are available.
