Alvin L. Howell

Alvin Lafayette Howell, 85, widower of Lucille Harvey Howell, died May 28, 2016 at the Cottages at Brushy Creek.

A native of Greer, he was the son of the late James Alton and Pearl Wilson Howell, the retired owner of Howell Roofing, member of Victor Baptist Church, and a US Army veteran.

Surviving are two daughters and son-in-law, Rita and Rick Danner of Greer and Denise Riddle of Greer; five grandchildren, Seth and Shyanne Riddle, Drew and Lyn Riddle, Reid Riddle, Jacob Danner, Sam Danner and Lindsey Slatton; and three great-grandchildren, Glenys Pearl Riddle, Johnny Jones Riddle and Clara Lynn Riddle.

He was also predeceased by six brothers and three sisters.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at The Wood Mortuary Chapel, conducted by Rev. Ken Vickery.  

Visitation was held from noon until 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary prior to the service.

The family is at the home of the daughter, Rita Danner.
