William Thomas “W.T.” Duncan, 87, widower of Mildred Azilee Burrell Duncan, passed away at his home on February 14, 2021.

W.T. was born in Beech Springs Township in Spartanburg County, on June 18, 1933 to the late James Martin and Hettie Octavia Henson Duncan. He was married to the love of his life, Mildred, for 68 and ½ years before her death in June, 2020.

W.T. was a skilled carpenter and electrician and worked with Utility Sales, Inc. in Greer for more than 40 years before his retirement. He served many years as a church deacon, and led the young men’s Royal Ambassadors group, taught Training Union, maintained the church building and grounds, and performed many other volunteer activities for his church. At the time of his death, he was a member of Victor Baptist Church in Greer.

“PaPa” was a loving father and grandfather and is survived by three daughters, Ann Duncan Wright of Duncan, Beth Duncan Meller and Patricia Duncan both of Greer; one son, Brian Duncan (Elaine) of Woodruff; seven grandchildren, Jamie Johnson, David Johnson, Tammy Johnson Cline (Phil), Christopher Meller, Nicholas Meller, Mandy Duncan Reynolds (Rob), and Dean Franklin (Samantha); 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his wife and parents, W.T. was predeceased by his sister, Geneva Duncan Alexander, and his brother, Eston Duncan. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Burial will be beside his beloved wife at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Greer, with graveside services conducted by, Rev. Robert Emory on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 2 p.m. Due to COVID-19, the family respectfully requests that attendees wear masks if medically able.

The body will lie in state from noon-7 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2021 at The Wood Mortuary for family and friends to register and pay their respects.

The family will receive friends Friday after the service at the cemetery.

The families are at their respective homes.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their love and care, with special thanks to Mary, Joy Beth, Robbie, Robert and Audrey.
