Crime Report for the Week of Jan. 18

Car fire in Greer diverts traffic near E. Poinsett
Greer Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle fire on January 9 around 6:36 p.m. at the intersection of Sunnyside Drive and Highland Ave.
GFD arrived on scene within four minutes. Officials say the Kia Optima was fully engulfed in flames with they arrived.
Greer man found dead
A Greer man was found dead in a car accident on Wednesday, according to Danville Police Department in Virginia.
Kevin Mark Spendley, 29, of Greer, was involved in a single-vehicle crash on the US 58 exit toward Martinsville, Virginia, and was reported missing on Monday, Jan. 9, by another jurisdiction.
Gaffney man gets 20 years sentence
A Gaffney man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison and ordered to pay more than $10,000 in restitution for a series of drug and property crime offenses.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said a man is in jail after disturbing and damaging multiple businesses last Tuesday afternoon.
Greer man struck by train
Around 2:40 p.m. on January 5, the Greer Police Department (GPD) was dispatched to the intersection of Moore Street and Able Street.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office (GCCO) also responded to the scene where a pedestrian had been struck by a train.
The decedent was identified as Randall Edward Palmer, 70, of Greer.
