This year, we introduced a new idea to our sports coverage — the Senior Spotlight.

Some games are won or lost by the skin of one’s teeth.
For others — like Friday night’s clash between the Greer and Byrnes ladies — it’s by the jewelry on one’s nose.
After dropping three of its last four games, Byrnes (5-3) came into Friday night’s clash against Greer looking to make a statement.
They did just that, coming away with a dominant 61-46 win at the Hive to hand the Jackets (10-1) their first loss of the season.
Musa Muriithi heard everything.
The Fountain Inn student section was loud and direct. In the first quarter of Tuesday’s game between the Blazers and Fury, they let Muriithi hear it after GMC’s star point guard missed his first four shots.
Fred Rogers, Jr. is a senior wrestler for the Byrnes Rebels. Rogers is currently 8-0 on the year, and he recently took home first place in the Kingsley Classic for his respective weight class. Rogers is also a lineman for the Rebels football team.
The Greer Citizen (GC): How did you get into wrestling growing up?

A lot can change in three months. Just ask Mikey Williams.
A mere 110 days ago, Williams threw on his shoulder pads and helmet at Slaton Field. His team was set to face J.L. Mann in week two of the football season.
Take one breath, one dribble, and imagine the basketball going straight through the hoop.
That’s Riverside point guard Madison Garrido’s tried and true free-throw routine.
Against Byrnes on Dec. 7, she needed that routine to work more than ever.
