Senior Spotlight

This year, we introduced a new idea to our sports coverage — the Senior Spotlight.

The senior spotlight highlights one area senior athlete each week, diving deeper into their athletic careers, personal lives, and future plans.

The seniors we met (in chronological order):

Callie Trapp
Blue Ridge softball

Samora Moody hit three free throws to tie the game with 0.5 seconds left, but the shots were nullified after Moody was issued a technical foul for having nose jewelry in.

WHO NOSE?

Some games are won or lost by the skin of one’s teeth.

For others — like Friday night’s clash between the Greer and Byrnes ladies — it’s by the jewelry on one’s nose.

Rogers plays both as a lineman for the Byrnes football team in the fall and wrestles for the Rebels in the winter.

A lot can change in three months. Just ask Mikey Williams.

A mere 110 days ago, Williams threw on his shoulder pads and helmet at Slaton Field. His team was set to face J.L. Mann in week two of the football season.
