A 2-5 season wasn’t what the Blue Ridge Tigers had in mind for 2020.
Returning talent on both sides of the ball and competing in a new region, James Thurn’s team had its sights set on a playoff run.
Then the pandemic hit.
The Eastside football team finished the season on fire after a slow 0-5 start.
The Eagles topped Riverside, Blue Ridge and Wade Hampton to conclude the year, salvaging what turned into a frustrating season.
When the Rebels walked off the field on Oct. 2, having just secured a 67-26 win over Riverside, they didn’t realize they wouldn’t be playing again for 28 days.
A positive COVID-19 test sent the program into a two-week quarantine, forcing game cancellations and postponing a matchup with Dorman.

The Eastside boys cross country team claimed the Class AAAA State Championship earlier this month, putting up a team score of 72 to beat out Travelers Rest and Beaufort.
Byrnes’ Srock named to NHSSCA Hall of Fame
Byrnes High Coach Mike Srock was named to the National High School Strength Coaches Assocaition Hall of Fame Class of 2021 recently.
The North Greenville women’s soccer program signed seven student-athletes to the 2021 recruiting class earlier this month.
Signees included: Karah Berry, Alexha Fite, Gabby Fitzgerald, Samantha Franks, Miranda Moorhouse, Alyssa Robinson and Abigail Shultz.

Burdened by the effects of COVID-19, Greer could not contain Catawba Ridge last Saturday night at Dooley Field, falling out of the Class AAAA playoffs in a 34-20 loss.

The Greer Middle College cross country team secured the repeat with a Class AA State Championship win earlier this month.
The Greer 8U Tackle Football team, coached by Bryant Simmons, recently completed a perfect season, going 8-0 on the year.
