Entering his 18th season as a head coach, Tom Chamness will be relying on a wealth of young talent to make some noise in the region this winter.

The Eastside boys basketball team has worked its way to a 3-1 start, with wins over Riverside, High Point and Powdersville.

The Eagles’ only loss came against Southside, 62-57.

Led by Abby King, the Blue Ridge girls basketball team is off to a solid 2-2 start.

Tigers take down Byrnes

The Blue Ridge girls basketball team is off to a 2-2 start, following losses to TL Hanna and Dorman during the Lady Red Raider Thanksgiving Invitational.

The Lady Tigers opened the tournament with a narrow 59-55 loss to Hanna. Blue Ridge was led by a monster performance from Abby King, who had 36 points and went 10-21 from the field.

Rebels earn two wins

Layne Fowler’s team has been tested early, and the schedule doesn’t get any easier.

The Byrnes boys’ basketball team earned wins over Rockdale County and Wade Hampton during the Bearden Border Wars Tournament before falling to Franklin County, 73-66.
