The magic carpet ride is over for the Greer American Legion Post 115 baseball team.

But, they’ll have a state championship to show for it.

Greer dropped back-to-back games at Regionals in Tampa, Florida last week, falling to Tallahassee (3-0) and Fort Mill (15-3) to cap an extended playoff run.

Byrnes Rebels Fishing Team members Marshall Robinson and Mason Fulmer moved up to 8th place in the Bassmaster High School National Championship.
They won $20,000 ($5,000 per year) each in scholarships to Bethel University and $1,000 scholarship money from BASS.

It was a night to remember for the Greer American Legion Post 115 baseball team.

Splitting a pair of games against Fort Mill in the state final Friday night in Columbia, Greer managed to secure its first championship since 1957.

Greer is pads today (Wednesday) for the first time, with just over two weeks until the football season opener against Byrnes.

That timeframe has the Yellow Jackets under the gun to get ready quickly.

Former Byrnes football standout Aaron Watson will enter the 2019 season as the first player North Greenville player named to a Gulf South Conference pre-season All-Conference team.

Watson was recently voted by conference coaches as one of the best defensive backs in the league.

The eighth annual Upstate SC Law Enforcement Memorial Softball Tournament will take place August 24-25 at Century Park in Greer.

Law Enforcement agencies and public safety personnel from all over the Upstate will be competing in the tournament.

In addition to softball games, entertainment will be available for kids.

Area teams got their first look at live practice this week with the start of fall sessions. Each team will participate in a number of scrimmages before opening regular season play at the end of the month.
