Greer Post 115 ousted in Tampa

The magic carpet ride is over for the Greer American Legion Post 115 baseball team.

But, they’ll have a state championship to show for it.

Greer dropped back-to-back games at Regionals in Tampa, Florida last week, falling to Tallahassee (3-0) and Fort Mill (15-3) to cap an extended playoff run.

The Greer American Legion Post 115 senior team won the program’s first state title in 62 years last Friday in Columbia.

Legion earns second title

It was a night to remember for the Greer American Legion Post 115 baseball team.

Splitting a pair of games against Fort Mill in the state final Friday night in Columbia, Greer managed to secure its first championship since 1957.

The Greer football team will suit up in full pads Wednesday for the first time in August.

Greer set sights on Byrnes

Greer is pads today (Wednesday) for the first time, with just over two weeks until the football season opener against Byrnes.

That timeframe has the Yellow Jackets under the gun to get ready quickly.

Former Byrnes standout Aaron Watson recently earned a pre-season accolade.

Watson named to All-Conference

Former Byrnes football standout Aaron Watson will enter the 2019 season as the first player North Greenville player named to a Gulf South Conference pre-season All-Conference team.

Watson was recently voted by conference coaches as one of the best defensive backs in the league.

Practice underway

Area teams got their first look at live practice this week with the start of fall sessions. Each team will participate in a number of scrimmages before opening regular season play at the end of the month.
