The Blue Ridge football team is finding its bearings under the direction of new head coach James Thurn, who took over for Shane Clark at the end of the 2017 season.

The Tigers have competed in a couple of scrimmages this spring, but rainy weather has meant less time in pads.

Michael Arnaud came out on top, shooting -27 in the tournament. The victory came with a cash prize of $126,000.

Arnaud takes BMW title

Michael Arnaud put together an impressive four-day run to claim the 2018 BMW Charity Pro-Am championship last week, earning $126,000.

Arnaud was the last player to qualify for the tournament, but finished the tournament at 27-under-par (69, 60, 65, 63), moving to number 13 on the Web.com Tour money list.

The Byrnes softball team was swept in the state title series against White Knoll last week.

Rebels fall in title series

A second-straight state championship eluded the Lady Rebels last Thursday night in Duncan, as White Knoll topped Byrnes, 6-2, to claim the Class AAAAA title.

The Lady Rebel softball team fell in consecutive games to White Knoll after blazing through the regular season and playoffs with only two losses.
