Riverside baseball came out firing in the first round of the Class AAAA playoffs Monday night, hammering York 8-3.

The Warriors never trailed throughout the game and scored in all but one inning. The win marked Riverside baseball’s first playoff victory since 2019.

Despite losing their final region series of the season to Greer, the Warriors are counting the setback as a lesson learned. ‘Anytime you get to play game of baseball, you can’t just limp into it,’ said RHS coach Michael Pettit.

Blue Ridge finished region play with an unblemished 8-0 record, outscoring Region 3-AAA opponents 69-10 in the process.
