Byrnes High senior quarterback Colby Shaw has been added to the roster for this weekend’s North-South All-Star game.
Shaw will join fellow Rebel Kyai Cook and Greer Yellow Jacket Alston McGee in the game.
The 75th North-South All-Star game is set for Saturday, Dec. 10, 12:30 p.m., at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach.
The Greer Area Touchdown Club held their final meeting of the year early this month and presented Blue Ridge High School’s (BRHS) Head Football Coach John Boggs with Coach of the Year Award.
Each year, the Greer Area Touchdown Club awards several local sports players based on their accomplishments on the field.
Following weeks of scrimmage and tournament action, Byrnes, Eastside, and other area teams begin or continue regular season basketball action this week.
Greer Middle College will hold its first home game of the basketball season tonight against Southern Christian.
All games begin at 7:30 p.m. except West-Oak which begins at 6 p.m. Tournament times and opponents will be announced at a later date.

The Greer Yellow Jackets boys basketball team won the Rippy Tipoff Classic in Union this past week with a 62-49 decision over host Union County.
The Yellow Jackets now sport a 3-0 record with wins over Newberry (76-43) and Woodruff (75-60).
The North Greenville Crusaders fell in women’s basketball action to the Wasps of Emory & Henry College with a final score of 80-53 in Meadowview, Virginia.
North Greenville fell behind early in the first quarter, going just two of nine from the field for a .222 field goal percentage.
Area boys and girls basketball teams have a full calendar of contests as the 2022-2023 season gets underway. Along with region and non-region games, several teams will participate in a variety of tournaments, including the Neely Roundball Classic, the Prep Hoops Showcase, the Charleston Tournament, and the Bluffton Tournament.
In his last game, quarterback Colby Shaw for Byrnes went 17 for 28 and 141 yards with one touchdown.
Byrnes made it all the way to the fourth round of the AAAAA state playoffs and got knocked out by the Gaffney High School Indians.
American Legion Post 115 of Greer is collecting toys at a couple of area dollar stores until mid-December and planning a Food Drive for Dec. 10.
The toys will be donated to the Greer Police Department’s Cops for Tots or Greer Relief’s Christmas Morning Shoppe while the food will go to Greer Community Ministries.
The City of Greer hosted a lunch event last Wednesday that featured several elements of a Clemson Tiger tailgate. The lunch included food, several Clemson fans, and fellowship, without the football.
