It’s December, and that can only mean one thing — that’s right, photos of children crying on Santa’s lap.

With Thanksgiving approaching, like most I’ve pondered about the numerous things I have to be thankful for.

For myself this year has had its ups and downs, and I’ve spent much of it fixing, resolving and changing whatever I deemed broken, but I didn’t take the time I should’ve to appreciate, enjoy and thank those who have been there.

We always hear about fathers who are protective of their daughters. We even find it charming when it’s played up in movies, songs and shows, but the cynical reason behind this is that women aren’t treated equally and they are far more likely than men to be victims of sexual assault and workplace discrimination.
