Carter Massa is a firefighter and paramedic with Greer Fire Department, where he has been for about a year and a half. His draw to be a public servant came from watching his father serve as a military soldier. For four years, Massa has been a paramedic. 
Fredricks said it’s the brotherhood of the fire service that keeps him coming back after the hard days.

Landrum woman dead after collision

A Landrum woman has died after a collision that took place on April 27.

Frances McSwain, 93, of Landrum, died on Thursday, May 2. The collision that occurred only a few days prior took place at N. Hwy. 14 and Hwy. 11 in Landrum. McSwain, a front seat passenger, was flown to Spartanburg Regional Hospital for her injuries.

Larkin has been with GFD since January and started his career in emergency services.
