Skip Taylor of Hendersonville shot a final round 6-under par 66 to win the Greater Greer Open at the Greer Country Club. Taylor finished four shots in front of Brandon Coggins who moved into second place in the final round.

The junior legion squad scored 13 runs in two wins last week, staying in second place in the region.

Legion streak continues

The Greer American Legion Post 115 junior squad has been dominating the region as of late, winning its last six games.

With only a couple of games remaining on the schedule, head coach Nate Ramsey said he feels as if his team has put itself in prime playoff position.

Rebels win NC State tourney

The Byrnes football team continued its summer success last weekend, winning a 7-on-7 tournament at North Carolina State University.

The Rebels picked up their first tournament victory of the season earlier this month at Auburn University.

Byrnes was undefeated in the recent tournament finishing 7-0 overall.

Riverside picked up five 7-on-7 victories last Friday at a tournament at the J.B. “Red” Owens Complex in Easley. Head coach Phil Smith said he has seen some positive things from his squad this offseason.

Warriors showing improvement

Riverside football coach Phil Smith said he was pleased with his team’s showing at a 7-on-7 tournament at Easley High School last Friday.

The Warriors walked away with five wins and Smith said his team will use that as momentum as they continue summer workouts.
